There are a few moments of needs and forgotten items encountered while traveling. This article was what I needed to research while I’m there. It’s nice to note for next visits in Vietnam.
Currency @2026
VND, the dong is Vietnam currency. There is no coin which is nice, but too many “0”. The price range is 10,000 VND to 200,000 VND for food, beverage, & transportation. Local stores still only take cash & they don’t have change sometimes. It’s better to exchange 10,000 – 20,000 VND.
- Food: Local/ 25,000 – 50,000 VND. Fancy/ 200,000 VND – 300,000 VND
- Beverage: Water (500ml) & Beer (350ml): 10,000VND〜
- Transportation: 15,000 VND〜/ first taxi ride.
- Hotel: 500,000 VND〜/night
- Sightseeing: Entrance fee: 20,000 – 60,000 VND
- Spa: Massage 500,000 VND /60min.
Dong to Japanese yen
Cut off three “0” & times 6 at 2026. The equation is (10,000 VND/1,000)*6= 60YEN
Dong to U.S. dollars
10,000VND = $0.5 ($0.38)

Exchange Currency Shop
Gold shop in city is the most high rate to exchange currency compared to bank in your country & airport. Also, the shop opens on Saturday & Sunday from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. mostly. Vietnamese are not on time, so it’s better for hotel to call to make sure it’s opened before you go. Listings are where I’ve exchanged. There are more near listing shops too. So you can go around or search & check a good rate. It’s easy to exchange from Yen/U.S dollars to the dong, but other way round is not much unless you have left 100.000, 200.000, 500.000 VND.

Beauty Item Shop: Hasaki
Hasaki is like a drag store. You can buy skin care items & cosmetics etc. here. My items includes hair brush were thrown away or stolen at hotel. So I’ve asked a receptionist the common beauty shop. There are well-known brands to select items like Korean beauty items. It’s nice to know when you suddenly need sun cream, napkins, or shaving etc. You can check the price & place near by at online.

Convenient Store: Circle K, WinMart+
Circle K & WinMart + are common convenient stores in Vietnam. There is no price tag in local market. So I wanted to know the price table as well as it’s safer it seems anyway. Ho Chi Minh has 7/11 & Family mart, but other cities doesn’t have one much.
