It’s natural to put the key and turn right to open the door in U.S. & Japan. However, it won’t open as the way I used to be. The way to open the door in Germany, Insert the key into the slot and turn it twice or one & half a turn to fully lock or unlock the door.
In this case, the door nob is on my right side, so turn the key to left for twice. You’ll turn the key to right for twice if the door door opens from the left.
And it would open the door. You’ll have the same from to lock inside of the door in order to lock the key as well.
